Our story
Started in brickwork. Stayed honest about it.
Jack Philbert qualified as a bricklayer in 2006 and went out on his own two years later, working garden walls and pointing jobs around Tadley and Basingstoke. The work spoke for itself — referrals brought extensions, then full builds, then a small crew of trades who'd worked together for years.
Philbert Construction Ltd was registered in 2018 (company 11797167) once the team grew past four. Eighteen years on, we've completed over 600 projects across Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire — and Jack still walks every site personally.
We're not the biggest builder in Reading. We're not trying to be. We're the one you call when you want the job done once, properly, by the same faces from start to finish.

Direct labour only
Every bricklayer, groundworker and carpenter on your job is on our books. No agency chain, no language barriers, no finger-pointing if something goes wrong.
Fixed-price written quotes
Itemised by labour, materials and timing — delivered within 48 hours of the site visit. The number you sign is the number you pay.
Fully insured, every project
Public liability and employers' liability cover on every job — certificates available on request before work starts.
One foreman per project
You speak to the same person from quote to handover. Daily progress photos by 6pm. No site managers you'll never meet.
